LCDR Michael S. Hogg

LCDR Michael S. Hogg, CHC, USN Chaplain Michael S. Hogg is presently assigned as the Command Chaplain to NAS JRB Ft Worth. He reported to his present command in July 2005. Born in Saginaw, Michigan in November of 1960, Chaplain Hogg is one of six children of John and Lois Hogg. He attended high school in Muskegon, Michigan and graduated from Central Michigan University in 1983. Entering active duty service in 1985, he attended the United States Air Force Officers Training School at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, Texas. Upon receiving his commission as a 2nd Lieutenant, he entered Air Training Command and ultimately receiving his qualifications as a Weapons Systems Officer . Chaplain Mike Hogg is ordained by the Presbyterian Church (USA). He entered active duty service as a United States Navy Chaplain in August of 1994. Chaplain Hogg’s initial assignment was to the 3rd Marine Aircraft Wing at Marine Corps Air Station El Toro in Santa Ana, California. This FMF tour was followed by a sea tour aboard the USS DENVER (LPD 9) located in San Diego, California in November 1996. Upon completion of his assignment to the USS DENVER, Chaplain Hogg was assigned to Naval Base Coronado, San Diego, California as base chaplain in November 1998. He completed duty ashore and reported for duty in Okinawa, Japan as the Deputy Group Chaplain, 3d Force Services Support Group. As Deputy Group Chaplain he was assigned to SPMAGTF Operation Iraqi Freedom and was lead chaplain in Phuket Thailand for Tsunami Relief CSF 536. Chaplain Hogg is in the dissertation phase of his doctorate degree in Education from the University of San Diego. His personal decorations include a Joint Commendation Medal, five Navy Commendation Medals, an Air Force Commendation Medal, and two Navy Achievement Medals. He is married to the former Lara Lee Davis of Dallas, Texas. They have two daughters, Alexandra age 16, Erin age 11, and one son Michael age 4.
